What is NOM-035-STPS-2018 about and what does it consist of?
As of October 2019, the Official Mexican Standard (NOM) 035-STPS-2018 came into force, which obliges all companies to address the psychosocial risks that may arise in work spaces.
Its main focus is to IDENTIFY, ANALYZE AND PREVENT psychosocial effects on workers, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (STPS) some of the factors that can cause psychosocial risks are:
- Workloads when they exceed the capacity of the worker.
- Working hours longer than those provided for in the Federal Labor Law.
- Shift rotation that includes a night shift without recovery and rest periods.
- Interference in the work-family relationship.
- Negative leadership.
- Negative relationships at work.
