FIRST PHASE OF BREAST MILK: COLOSTRUM / LIQUID GOLD 💛✨

By LN. Grecian Uribe Arce.

As the title says, Colostrum is the first milk that your body produces for your baby. It is called “the first vaccine” because it is loaded with immunoglobulins, water, carbohydrates, fats, protein, sodium, zinc, etc. This liquid is thick and yellow that is why it is called “Liquid Gold” and is only present the first week after delivery (3-5 days). Then the second phase of the milk begins, which is the transitional milk, in order to reach the final phase that is known as mature milk.

It is important that you do not worry when you see that only drops of this viscous liquid come out, your body is PERFECT and what comes out is what YOUR BABY needs. Every baby is different and they have different needs. DO NOT COMPARE. If for some reason you need to pump your colostrum with a manual or electric pump and you only see a couple of drops, that’s enough: babies are born with reserves! Many times you don’t even see drops come out because the breast pump does not have the same force as your baby’s mouth. Neither is their glucose going to drop, their stomach is VIRGIN and the size of a cherry the first days; just a few drops will suffice. Please calm down, don’t worry!

Colostrum and Mature Milk.

COMPONENTS OF COLOSTRUM:

  • Aminoacids: Vital for the metabolism and regeneration of cells.
  • Sulfur: Important for the metabolism and many structural proteins of the baby body.
  • Cytokines: They stimulate the lymph nodes and contain high-performance antiviral immune factors.
  • Enzymes: They destroy bacteria by secreting oxygen peroxide.
  • Natural growth factors: EgF, lgF-l and lgF-II, FgF, PDGE, TgA and B, GH) They influence almost all cellular processes in the body.
  • Glycoproteins: They cause immune factors and growth factors to pass through the acidic digestive system, inhibiting fission caused by stomach enzymes.
  • Trypsinic and protease inhibitors: They protect immune and growth factors from being destroyed in the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Immunoglobulins: (A, D, E, G and M) Determining antibodies for prophylaxis and prevention against infections that can attack a baby.
  • Lactoferrin and transferrin: They transport iron to red blood cells and prevent viruses and bacteria from taking it over.
  • Lactobacillus Bifidus Acidophilus: They support digestion, reduce bacteria and fungi harmful to the digestive system.
  • Leukocytes: Delays and eliminates viral reproduction and penetration of cell walls.
  • Lymphokines: Regulate the immune reaction.
  • Lysozyme:Immune-strengthening and hydrolyzing agent that can destroy bacteria and viruses 🦠 on contact.
  • Polypeptides rich in proline: They support and regulate the “thymus” gland and produce effects on the immune system.
  • Oligopolysaccharides and glycoconjugates: They prevent pathogens from penetrating the mucous membranes.
  • Vitamins: (A, B12, E and K) Indispensable for a regular metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and protein.
